Stripey Stork

Stripey Stork, a small charity based in Surrey, opened their doors in August 2013. The charity was set up by a group of local mums who wanted to see the items their babies and children no longer needed re-used in the community. Their mission is simple – to take donations of new and pre-loved toys, clothes and equipment for babies and children and, after making sure they’re safe and clean, rehome them with local families experiencing hardship. The team take referrals from local health and community professionals to identify those in need and all items are passed on free of charge.

Fundraising Goal for 2019

Stripey Stork would like to build a fund to buy the new items that are included in all of their children’s clothing packs, such as pants, socks and nightwear for all ages. These new items help complete the packs which also include the clothes kindly donated by supporters. The team want the families to feel like they are receiving a gift and not a handout, and including new items helps them to achieve this. The clothing packs need to be as complete as possible in order to help the families get back on their feet and break the cycle of poverty. Stripey Stork aim to respond to 2,500 requests this year.

#Stripes4Stripey2019 – Thursday, 20th June

On Thursday, 20th June, Stripey Stork are asking the local community to support their fundraising target of £1500 by wearing stripes for the day and making a donation to the charity. Schools, playgroups and offices can all join in the fun and help raise funds for the charity. The team are also welcoming donations of new children’s underwear – so why not put a box together? Please note, they will be operating from new premises in Reigate from 3rd June (51a Albert Road North, Reigate, RH2 9EL). If you are a local business who are interested in running a ‘stripey’ promotion, you can contact the Stripey Stork team to see how they can support your efforts.

Spread the Stripey Word!

You can also help by spreading the word amongst your colleagues, friends and family. Social media is another way you can help raise awareness of this year’s campaign. They have created a Stripes4Stripey supporter’s profile frame for Facebook and a Twibbon for Twitter. Also, remember to share your stripey photos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #Stripes4Stripey2019!

A Word from Stripey Stork

“We live in such a kind and engaged community; we can’t wait to see how stripey our supporters become on 20th June. You can have real fun with your fashion and everyone loves a stripe, but there are serious connotations to what we are trying to achieve. Every day we see child poverty happening right on our doorstep and it’s just heartbreaking. But, with funds like this, we will be able to complete the ‘packages of care’ we send and reach even more local families in need.”
